None of the above...

Phillips 66 - 15W-40

or

Exxon 15W - 40

They both are rated for diesel use and I can buy 5 gallon buckets at time. ($32 per 5 gallons)

Funny, the local Cummins dealer uses the same stuff....

Delo has a lower ash content than Rotela. Most associated with big trucks use Delo.

The best I can explain it, the ash content is the hard materials left after burning the oil. The Rotella leaves a higher amount of non combustables. Someone step in that can explain it better.

ash content is the percent by weight of residue left after combustion of oil - the lower the ash content the better

Shell rotella synthetic, because of cost and availability. Plus I really like the smell!

Ash content should not be a concern unless your engine is burning a lot of oil. We are talking minute amounts here.

I actually run Mobil 1 15w50 SuperSyn since I got a good deal on it and Wally World didn't carry Delvac then either, next oil change will be Delvac though.

Well check this scenario, in the Wally World aisle, uncapping gallon oil containers, smell them, clerk walks up, What are you doing. Now how do I explain to him that I am looking for the best smelling oil??
