Not to hijack but my mom had her oil changed in her car one time at jiffy lube and she took off about a mile down the road the engine froze. she called me i checked oil there was none in it. They forgot to put oil back in it when they changed it. they paid for a new engine and a rental car while hers was in the shop.

I don't care how "nice" this shop is to you, but botching a full maintenance without an offer to make it right is just plain wrong. Talk to them.

Why are we so quick to put the screws to a dealership for these blunders, but forgive for an independent?

Or cross threading while they run it in with an impact wrench.

Sorry this took so long to update , I have some pictures somewhere , the input shaft, main shaft , and counter shaft were all in really bad shape , it MELTED some of the gears together it got so hot in there.

The shop who forgot to check the trans came good and paid for the transmission , dad on'y had to pay for the clutch , which he opted to have installed while the trans was out.

When I lived in Seattle, a buddy had to replace the pan on his Toyota pickup after local jerky lube cross threaded the pan bolt. By the marks on the bolt it was hammered home.

Thats two reasons I dont like JiffyLube or any of the other quickystop places that do changes.
Jiffy uses Pennzoil and I wont use that stuff if they paid me.
But thats MHO.
