Once you get over a 1000 gallon tank a bunch of EPA rules start kicking in that aren't worth the money and hassle.
Never used a drop of diesel additive in my farm equipment in the last forty plus years except in the tractor I use for plowing snow. My feeling is it's an unnecessary expense.
If your fuel isn't good enough as it comes switch brands rather than trying to change it with additives.

I agree, the only time we add an additive is in the winter. We do add a little injector cleaner when filling up at times when running the tractors during harvest. As for the fuel tanks, they are grandfathered in because we had them before the new rule. Now I think you have to have a containment system for anything bigger then 300 gal but not sure. Alot of the smaller are starting to come with containments around them.

Dave, got to be careful of those grandfathered tanks especially if they're underground and start to leak. I've known two farmers who when they went to sell their property leaking tanks were discovered and the cleanup cost more than their property was worth.
I ended up destroying all traces of my underground tanks and went to above ground for this very reason.

Running an additive in 24v motors seems to be more important than anything else. The lubricant is added back into the fuel, since it was partially removed when they took the sulfur out of the fuel. That and 24v systems can't get enough lube, seems like.
As for me, we are going to get another fuel tank to put road fuel in since I have the truck and dad has the Big trucks for grain hauling. We found out from the accountant that there is a tax break for implementing the system, as well as on the fuel, if you run bio. I am going to run 20% super dieselex, but I'm still going to put PS in it. It could save me a VP44.
If you've got questions about the tax break, you need to ask your tax guy, cuz I don't have 100% of the details, and laws vary, etc...
