While your front GAWR should be 4850 lbs, I don't see how it could possibly support much more than a 5.9 CTD. The empty front axle weight on my 98.5 3500 is just a bit over 4000 lbs....adding an engine that is 2000 lbs or over will immediately put you over the front GAWR without breaking a sweat....and that is on an unloaded truck!

Exactly, last time I weighed mine, it was a hair over 4000lbs on the front axle. That is for an empty 2500, no driver or passengers, 1/2 tank of fuel. No way a front axle with a gawr of 4850lbs, will support a 3000lb motor.
