Question Built Jetta or VW TDI, anyone on here?

Any body on here have a TDI Jetta or VW for that matter, that has been "upgraded" in the "diesel" "department" if you know whatI mean?

I am considering getting a Jetta or other VW down the road and I am wondering what they are capable of and if they worth while. The wife wants better MPG and 45 is nothing to be sneezed at. Plus I want all diesels, and naturally I want to bomb it!!

Any good sites out there? Any body with one of their own?

I have 2 vw diesels, 1 TDI. Both jettas and know of some guys with 200/400 hp/tq . One of the best sites is Tdiclub.com.
My wife drives our TDI and I havent felt the need to mod it just yet, but as soon as she steps into something newer and hands it down to me

I can't remember which diesel magazine I saw it in. There is a guy that has a TDi 300 HP, and get s 40+ MPG. Yea, he replaced a lot of parts to get to that point. Keith

We have 2 TDI's. One is the wifeys and the other is my winter car. We have never gotten less than 44 mpg. Both are mildly moded with bigger turbos, bigger injectors and a remapped ECU. They are very peppy now and get great mileage.

My only complaint with VW's is that, they are not very reliable cars. At least that has been my experience.

I really like them though.

We had a 2000 Jetta TDI that went through 4 sets of glow plugs and glow plug harnesses. If one glow plug goes they all need to be replaced as a set to make the computer happy. This was with less than 40000 miles. Great mileage but not the best reliability. I would not buy one again without an extended warranty.
