Block heater on 2001 FORD?

Should plug in right by the oil filter as JD730 stated. I'd start looking there and work your way forward as they tie the thing up where it is hard to find sometimes. If he's missing the cord, you should be able to pick one up from the international truck store for cheaper than the Ford dealer.

What they said. The only other thing is that Ford loved to tape them back onto the harness when new. You will have to dig for it. Lay down under the front bumper, then feel for a bundle of wires tucked down at the bottom of the inside of the bumper, you can see the serrated ends of the harness push clips from the back side of the bumper. You will have to push the serrated clips out to get the wiring harness out from inside the bumper so you can work with it. At this point you will find that the block heater cord is taped to a long rigid piece of plastic. I removed this plastic on my Fords so I could reroute the cord for ease of use. It is all self explanatory once you locate it.
If for some reason it does not have a cord you can call Cummins or International to get one also, (Cummins will be the cheapest). The cords are the exact same connection, one may be longer than the other, but that does not matter. A cord cost me appx $10.00 from a Cummins shop
Good luck,
Tim

Funny thing Ford started doing in 99 was every diesel engine had the heater element installed and if you were in the south you could pick if you wanted the cord installed otherwise it was never put on. If it is a truck that is meant for the north a block heater was standard. Sometimes you have to do quite a bit of searching along the harness to find the plug so you can pull it through the grill.
