Blew up my mule

Re:Blew up my mule
the oil filter was the correct type we got it from kawasaki. also this was the second change for the synthetic. i also checked after this happened and it was fine. it does have a oil pressure light that was off when it happened. i have no clue its been down for over a week and i know im stupid. i took it to the kawasaki dealer where we bought it. thinkin bout right know putting in a Cummins B3.3 85hp turbocharged 4cyl. diesel and takin off that belt and putting on almost like a torque converter and putting sprokets on either end and make it a chain. that be awesome if i had some money.

I was wondering about the filter as well. We have had a couple people have issues with a faulty Carquest filter that wouldn't let enough oil pass through. It may be the correct filter but might be a faulty one.

Hey Guys my dad went there today and they had the engine out and they said i bent the crankshaft . so i geuss ill need a new engine or crnk. the engine cost about $3800. the only cool part is that Kawasaki is gonna eat the bill so we dont have to pay for it ;D. I wont have it back untill next year but that aint very far away. Just thought id let you know. Cody

But did they tell you HOW you bent the crank? I would be interested in the explanation. You should ask them and just say you want to know so you might be able to keep it from happening again.

I too would like to know how you bent the crank. Also how would anyone know if the crank was bent? Something does not add up here.

Sounds a little fishy if they say it has a bent crank and they will cover it under warranty "no questions asked". I wonder if there is (hopefully was) a manufacturing problem.

When I work at shrout's I recall seeing TB's on early diesel mules but non of the newer mules. I have never heard of that before. That's great kawasaki ate the bill. They are pretty tuff though. Good luck -Anthony

dont worry about the newer mules having the same problem. in the older years when they first came out they had some recalls on diesels cause the problem i had. my engine must have been an old one. Tell your dad to get a hydrauliic dump bed too. he'll really like the power and ease to start with the diesel. heck i could do burnouts with mine!!!! have to see if i can after i get it back.

Update:
They Put everything together and on the bench tried to turn it over but it didnt move. where the bearings go they said it was oblong instead of round. so they said we needed a new Crankcase so i geuss thats the block. They tried to get Kawasaki ti send a whole new engine but Kawasaki just sent the parts. Also when they took apart the engine they were gonna take it completely apart and clean it. when they did they found that one of the pistons had a ding in the top. so we wont have it back for about 2 weeks !!!!!!!! Oh well i dont care we dont have to pay for, so i'll wait

Sounds like something got sucked in and hammered it and then spit back out the exhaust. Usually something like that won't break a crank though, the aluminum is soft enough to absorb the impact. I wounder if there are any impact marks on the head or a valve?
