Unhappy Better Mileage to offset the high fuel costs...

Well I sat in a sauna for a week and dropped 30 pounds.

I took my George Foreman Grill out, gutted the stereo, removed the bed, aired up the tires to 120 psi, removed the outside duals and the fenders, took the hitches off, removed the factory tank and added a pair of 5 gallon fuel tanks for even more reduced weight, pulled all the 4x4 parts out, built a shroud out of cardboard around the bottom of the truck and ....I now get 21 mpg on the highway...thats up from 20.8 at 70 mph running empty.

Pretty good huh? I need more cardboard.

Ya-- dead giveaway.

I'm surprised we don't have a Scotty exhaust-heated in-cab George Foreman Grill. I bet you could even make a cowl hole on the other side of the bay to ensure it maintains "family lineage."

You forgot to replace your skid plates with the new foam "nerf" ones from Banks. You could always replace your exhaust pipe with the cardboard tubes from your toilet paper rolls, I believe "Charmin" makes a 4" roll. If you want stacks, you might consider something larger.

How about some helium in the tires!!!!!!!

I will report back on the paper towl roll stacks. Maybe.

you know its a sad day when the Grill has to come out. But hey...for .2 mpg increase...I am in!

You should see what Lary has done to his truck to get better mileage.

Somebody needs to invent a device that catches smoke and condenses it back into fuel.

I hurd somewhere that the army hummers have some sort of thing on the pipe that takes the water it produces into dirnking water. They said for every gallon of fuel burnt there is a gallon of water made. not sure if any of this is true but sounds pritty kool.

VW makes an AC line that you can run through you glove box on a Passat to turn it into a icebox. Know thats an idea. the hose is about 18 bucks and just taps into your freeon(sp) lines and goes through the glove box.

I think it would help to replace your nerf bars with pvc and I think that I have a set of mirrors off a motorcycle to replace those tow mirrors . I also know where you can get some silt fence for a tailgate

I bet if you pull out that 1000lb motor, you could get really good mpg coasting down a hill. That'll lighten her up!

I took off my windshield wipers ... they caused too much drag and not used all THAT much. That was good for +0.015 mpg increase. Actually, if you religiously used rain-x, I guess you could remove the wipers, and the motor. That would be like 10 pounds less.

Oh yeah, you don't need that spare wheel, tire, jack and tools ... most of the time. Take them out too. That would be like 50 lbs less. Now we're getting somewhere.

Scotty - Do you really have a George Foreman grill mounted in/on your truck?
