Best way to machine out the h2 wheels.
i am picking up a set on sunday. I would like to know what is the easiest way to machine these out on my own. i have no fancy tools to do it except a drill. I went out looking for a hole saw and all i found were 4 in and 4 1/2 in hole saws. I am not going to a machine shop because they want 280 bucks to boire them out.

u can use a hole-saw, there is such a thing as 4 3/4", which is what you'll need. you'll have to make some sort of jig to keep the bit centered in the bore. it will drill pretty easy with a new bit.
if u have any sort of access to a bridgeport you can use it with a boring bit, that's how i did mine.

i have a bridgeport at school, but the teachers are not sure on how to use it to bore the wheels evenly. there is a boring bit in the machine now though, any instructions for using this machine?

No you don't have to make a jig to use the holesaw. That's the beauty of it.
On the front of the wheel the hole is already out to 4 3/4" so the saw drops into a recess and is contained and centered perfectly. Only about 1/2 of the hole's depth has to be cut out.
After the cut though, you still have to sand the hole to smooth it up and get the final few thousandths out. A 2" drum sander in a high speed drill works well.

I think you need to find a new school , if the teachers do not know how to use the equipment that is there .

forest they are with tires and the guy said he might go lower too!!! so i mean its worth it and i like the idea of spending 150-200 bucks to buy set of wheels and tires...
id rather go with an aftermarket but im not all that well off seeing im in highschool, working a 15 hour weeks getting paid crap and have to pay for this truck and insurrance still... yuck!

4 3/4 hole saws are available, Graingers has them, you might also try an Eletrical Whosale Distributor for them like B&K Electric.

hi ramdriver , did mine on bridgeport , use boring bit or get a adjustable circle cutter thats what i did center wheel in machine under cut need to have tires off use the area thats already cut alittle as a guide . first one toock 30 min to set up after 5 mins a rim .

sounds pretty tempting for $150-$200 a set with tires.

Not to hi-jack here, but...
Will the H2 wheels w/ their stock tires (315/70/17) fit on a stock 2WD 2500?
Also, it seems that the standard H2 tires are load range D - thoughts?
I'm going to be needing new tires in the near future, mainly a daily driver and a 3500# boat for weekend towing.

well i guess all the worrying about the hubs was for nothing. they are already drilled out. they were on a powerjoke!!! lol

There is no way they were on a Powerstroke, those have a different metric bolt pattern, I would double check you center opening is at least 4-3/4".
