highjack "on"
thrust is on #6 and engines built prior to 06R0762048 use the two-piece washers with locking tangs that register with locating notches in the bearing shell. make sure you get the right main bearings.
epa '04 mains are 347-391 lbft - use international compound #2 on threads and under bolt head. (aka peanut butter)
connecting rod bolts 118-137 lbft

Wow, rod torque is low, me likey.
I will get everything directly from Detroit. The first thing they are gonna say when I call for the parts is, "what you doing repairs now instead of bringing it to us". The only reason I am doing it in the fist place is because of whom the customer is and it looks a ton easier than a Cummapart.
Thank you sir!!!

Hijack off.
Cable clamps, I generally use solder on clamps, usually one size up from the cable, so 3/0 clamps for 2/0 cables. I haven't had any trouble with corrosion or bad connections, although other people will have other stories, and prefer the hammer on, or crimp on connectors. In theory a clean connection is most important. I also use brush on electrical tape, or dielectric grease, underneath a double layer of heat shrink tubing at the solder joints.
Now, I might be weird, but this is what has worked for me in light duty, on highway, and off highway applications for years now.

Most heavy truck part supply houses make all kind of battery cables and connections. Do you have a Fleet Pride shop in your area?

[QUOTE=kopfjaeger;2965603]wow, Fleetpride jsut down the road from work. Can they all make the cables? What do I ask for? I will take my old burned up crossover. Will they have the connectors?? Thanks Need it done ASAP!![/.
I would call them first. Most Fleetprides can accommodate your needs, but from my experience it is geographically and demand specific. FYI I just had 15' cables made for a 40 ton wrecker we are putting together.
