B100 in a 99 cummins?

Just wondering if anyone has ran B100 in a 2nd gen 24valve. Theres a place (somewhat locally) that sells it, and im contemplating giving it a try.

And please, dont start the "make it yourself" "homebrew" bio diesel replys... I make more than $1 an hour so my time is more valuable to go around purchasing parts, chemicals, and my time to make fuel to save a few bucks.

Question once again, is it ok to just pull up and dump B100 into a 2nd gen 24valve thats been on dino its whole life?

In all seriousness, are you sure you want to switch fully to b100? I don't really see a problem with you doing it, other than you might have to upgrade some of the fuel hoses to synthetic/viton should they start to swell/leak. Depending on how many miles you have on your truck, it will definitely clean out your tank - so an extra filter isn't an awful thing to have. It's extraordinarily rare for a filter to plug from switching to bio, but better safe than sorry. There are several members on this site and tdr running homebrew b100 in 2nd gens so assuming the stuff you can buy is ASTM spec, you should be doing fine.

There is no need to 'phase in' the bio in lesser blends, you can switch fully if you like.

Since you make more than $1/hr, cost effectiveness may not be an interest of yours , however you easily could get some 6 gal cans and purchase your b100 that way, for blending. It's pretty easy to fill your tank 3/4 with dino and then top off with b100.. Once you get above b50 you're really reaching the point of diminishing returns as far as lubricity, emissions reduction, and economy. Most prefer b20 which won't require any mods at all.

Well around phoenix theres only a B100 fueling space... So thats why im asking about it. I havent noticed any b20 around... And im partially curious to see it run on good old made in USA product. Ive read that the engines quite a bit quieter and smoother idle with it too.

Dont get me started on the homemade

Yah, i read the fuel system could be a problem (some state filters, lines, injectors, pumps) are possible problems, but theres no real evidence.. just peoples opinions thinking theyd clog...

The truck has a bit over 200k on it.

Is there a reason you can't take 5 or 10 five gallon gas cans in your truck and fill them with b100? You can mix it at any blend. You'd stand to gain a big improvement in lubricity with a nice cetane boost just dumping in 5 gals per tank.. Or go for it, fill with b100, you won't have any immediate issues, other than a slight loss of power and mpg.. It's crazy how much quieter they run on b100 tho!

Well, i suppose i can just run the tank to half and then top off with b100 just to try a mix.

Sounds like a good plan to me.
Just a note; When blending, if you put the biodiesel in an empty tank and then pour diesel fuel slowly on top, it may not blend properly, if at all. Since the biodiesel is heavier, it may stay in the bottom of the tank in a layer of mostly biodiesel.

I've done it both ways and it works fine as long as temps are above 60F or so. The sloshing causes it to blend - it does blend easily.
