I can't stand the ridiculous ones. Like the people that put a 7 or 8" tip on 4" exhaust. Just go 1" above whatever exhaust you have and that'll look good. Don't try to make it look like huge exhaust when you don't. I like 5" exh. with 6" tip on my trucks. But whatever floats your boat.

To each his own, I don't like chrome tips. I cut my stock exhaust behind the rear axle, so you can't even see the exhaust pipe. I get no soot on truck at all, I guess it shoots it down enough to clear the truck. If I do smoke at launch, it just blows the smoke under the car behind me.

I like a nice tip to clean up the end of the pipe, but only 1" oversize. What looks stupid to me is the whole 4 and 5 inch exhaust when most of the trucks with them dont need them. 90% dont need the 4" and 99.95% dont need the 5". Talk about a waste of money.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't have bought my Silverline Turbo-back SS 4", but I picked it up new in box for $200...
I had the stock 3" with the muffler delete and it sounds horrible compared to the full 4" setup.
On the subject of "need"...what mods out there do we really "need" for our trucks?

Tips do look funny if you can see the original pipe. Now, I do like the look of say a 6 inch pipe. Even though I plan to have 4inch from the turbo back one day, money willing, the pipe that goes passed the axle will be 6 inch to provide the look and sound of a 6inch system. Ive seen a dually with a stock 4inch pipe and 7" tip...looks ridiculous in my opinion but to each his own.
