Anybody see Kings of the Road?
On the Travel Channel. First half was really good, never saw a tandem axle truck do donuts before! Also had a bit on a guy who runs Pike's Peak in a Freightliner with a Euro race truck 12 liter M-B V-6. Same guy has also gone 218 at Bonneville in a Freightliner with two Detroit Diesels, had some cool out the back on-board footage of that one. When he gets on it, the push truck disappears. The middle was kinda lame, some hokey car crushing robot dinosaur - what does that have to do with trucks? The last part was show trucks, amazing that guys will polish and detail 'em up like that and then go work them in rain and snow.

I did like the doughnuts and the Pike Peak run. They kept saying that the truck transformed into the robot dino, but the truck just pulled the trailer there and dropped it. The trailer was what transformed. I though that part was lame too. But I do admire the guys engineering ability. The rest of the show was pretty good.

I saw that also. I would love to be able to do burnouts like that with that many tires..
Beautiful looking trucks
I couldn't picture myself driving up a mountain (with no guard rails ) at an average of 100 mph. Just crazy people.

Mike Ryan (Driver of the Freightliner Pikes Peak truck) came to OKC Freightliner last year with the MB truck. Took it off the truck and did some burnout sessions. Funniest thing was when he was doing donuts and just about lost it out in the gravel yard were we keep our trade in trucks. Heckuva truck though.
At that time, he had 3 trucks, one was the MB truck, a Series 60 equipped freightliner pushing over 1000hp and a truck equipped with a 92 series 2 stroke Detroit.

I've been up Pike's Peak in a van with the Family at a slow sedate speed and that was bad enough. I really don't know how they do it at those speeds without killing a lot of people.
