I think Ford makes a better truck....but when I got the new one a couple of weeks ago I decided to go with Dodge because I like the Cummins engine better.

The reason you need 4x4 (at least in my neck of the woods) is for off road driving. Off road driving will typically require greater ground clearance. Only makes sense that you'd want a 4x4 to sit up higher...

For once, Hoss makes sense. The floor of my bed sits 37" off the ground at the rear axle. Which means at the tailgate it may sit 40". MAYBE. The bedrail at the rear axle sits 57-1/2" off the ground.

Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

I have yet to meet one that doesn't like the way it looks or sounds. I went through a phase a little while ago where I thought bout giving my sister my truck and buying a 99 GT and putting a Vortech blower on it and fully doing it out. Every girl I ran that by beat the crap out of me for even thinking of getting rid of my truck (my mom kept asking me if I kept getting into fights at school ). I love high school girls. ;D But I have to turn my sights from them to college girls. ;D

I think we will see many converts when Dodge builds a 4500 and 5500 model comparable to ford's f-450 and f-550.
Bought a used 1996 F250 4x4 LWB-460. Excellent truck! No problems 147k. What sold me on a Dodge over a Ford was the guy I bought the Used Ford from. He had a brand new PSD setting in his driveway with the biggest puddle of oil under it you have ever seen. Said the truck had been in the shop more than out and that he was probably selling the wrong truck!! Another thing was all of the :'( :'( :'( :'( going on at the Ford discussion boards all over the 'net.
Long story shorter, I made the mistake of test-driving a Cummins I was NOT ready to buy. Well needless to say I have an '03 H.O. 6spd, QC, SB in the driveway and the more I drive it the more I like it. The dealer has been good, the salesman has been GREAT.
Anyone in the SE Ohio area try Taylor Motors in Athens, Ask for John Ansel and tell him Brownie sent Ya.

KO

Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

Well Hi I am brand new to this website just found it last night when I got home from the dealer from picking up my (new to me) Dodge. I traded in a 99 PSD for it. The main reason I got a new truck (since the PSD only had 44,000) was because the wife and I decided to have 1 vehicle and she can't drive a manual. I wanted the Dodge when I bought the PSD but at my age Dodge didn't take me seriously and wouldn't give me the time of day, so I got the Ford. Now I finally got my Cummings. Just have no idea where to start with mods.

Just got back from having my horse's stiffle doctored up in Silver City. You wouldn't believe the number of new 2500 and 3500 I passed on the way back. I getting more comfortable everyday about this decision. I wonder how much heavier the Cummins HO is than the 7.3 PSD? I thought about that climbing offroad up the mountain.

Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

I had a ford gasser crewcab superduty and wanted to get a new one. But I tired of reading of the cackle issues on the 7.3's (even heard a couple on the lot(s)) and didn't want to be a beta tester for the 6.0's. Some folks seem to be paying dearly for that coveted honor.

One drive in a HO 6-shooter sold me.

I'm going to be a convert soon, well at least from Ford to DC(CTD). That Ford quality really vacuums.
Vittorio - I want your truck in CA, but with a long bed.
I'm talking to my sister, who lives in Utah, and I'm wanting to buy out-of-state, and bring to CA. I will need to jump through some hoops though. I can't wait, don't want to wait.
And I want to buy it once without regret in not getting the HO.
Brian
Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

Everyone mentions raising their trucks up for clearance for off roading. What about tire size changes? Raising the truck alone won’t do anything for axle clearance. You can raise the truck 3 feet, don’t mean you can go over a 3 foot rock. ;D

Just being a smarty here. Saw a Furd raised pretty good but I swear his axle was not any higher then my stock Dodge.
Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

Most people have the common sense to put bigger tires on their after they lift their trucks. However, you do get the idiot *cough* ford *cough* drivers who leave the stock, or near stock sizes on their. Oh well.

Re:Any 03' HO Cummins Converts From Superduties?

I don't think that has anything to do with Ford....I think that's just idiots in general because I've seen that on all makes of trucks. :
