I have been following this thread simply as a learning excercise.
I dont understand all the talk of flow curves, ect. but I have found SD's ideas to be informative and appearantly well thoughout. He demonstrates a knowledge of the subject being discussed.
I would hate to see this thread locked or shut down because of childish name calling and what appears to be spitefullness.

Please let the civil discussion about this continue or, if it bothers you too much, please go read some other thread..........

Like I said earlier,this is my 2 cents why don't you all just quit arguing. This thread is suppose to be helpful to someone not a disaster. So get off of it guys and grow up. Moderators: don't lock this thread. Lets get all of this out into the open. Fuel pumps are a contentious issue these days. Feelings run high. Lets keep the debate going.
You guys have the power to keep this thread open right now by dropping the childish banter and going strictly to technical debate. You're seconds away from locks being put on both of these threads, and multiple users being muted for 30 days and even others removed.

Let me say something here. THIS WILL NOT BE ANOTHER DTT VS ATS TYPE CRUSADE, PEOPLE. Let me make that very very clear. I''m a pretty laid back guy, and I will let things go, but the boiling point has been reached.

Again debate all you want but do it without insults and leave your pride and SPS at the door.

Do not tell me to keep a thread open because of what you think needs to happen. We will make the decision on that and if we decide to close them all down until you kids can learn how to place nice in the sandbox together, then that is exactly what will happen.

I'm not seeing any real benifit to the Walbro system, except for the fun of trying something new and playing with fittings. I need a RELIABLE, PROVEN fuel lift system and the FASS II provides that. Cost difference?

Fass II = $344 delivered 2-3 hours to install, all parts included. 4 year warranty.
Total $344.

Walbro System = $120 delivered for the pump, $75 for the regulator, build your own relay/ wire harness $50, fuel lines $20, fittings $25, no instructions, 1 full day to install according to those who have. NO warranty. 6 trips to the hardware / automotive store $20 in fuel.
Total $310. (Approx)

For the extra $34 (for right now) there is no way I'm gonna be playing with an experimental fuel system.

I'm ignoring all the non technical stuff going on here.

To defend the Walbro as being "worth it", I'll say that...

a) there is the quality of the Walbro pump and its capabilities
b) the extra stuff doesn't cost $170
c) it retains the stock filter housing with the water in fuel indicator and fuel heater
d) hookup won't take a day, maybe no longer than a FASS
e) after a few guys hook them up, they won't be experimental

Each to his own.

Walbro - $118 to my door
Adjustable Swagelok - $22 to my door
2micron filter w/ filterhead - $35 to my door
Relay and misc wire/fittings - maybe $20
Fuel line - $15
Fittings and clamps - $25
So I'll have about $235 invested... Plus I'm going to do the fuel tank vent mod at the same time since I'm dropping my tank for a seperate fuel pickup. That's another $34.
So for roughly $270 I'll have the vent mod, a nearly bullet-proof fuel system w/ extra filtration and adjustability.... And it should only take me 6-8 hours total time.
I'm fortunate enought to not need instructions as everything I need to know I've done already and it's all been pretty much laid out by SD here, many times over. And I love trying new things. Variety is the spice of life...

Kewl, keep us posted. I hope the larger return lines gets your PSI down were you want it. For this new set up are you concerned about fuel temps? I don't think anyone has brought this up yet, but it could become an issue due to this pump moving so much fuel. If so, you could run the return line through a cooler of somekind? Just a thought.

PS, you forgot to add beer to your total cost.

You guys need to be aware that some people are working on a 2nd gen Walbro installation here.

We've/they've got an issue of having too much flow going through the 1/4" Swagelok with the VP44 at idle. Can't get the pressure down low enough at idle.

I don't know if you will experience the same thing with the CP3.

It might be worth waiting until we get some numbers/experience with the 2nd gen guys before you start installing. If not, I'm here to help.

Worst case, the CP3 people can temporarily run a bypass like mine. If that appeals to them.

Just read it. No problems. With as busy as I am, I'll be luck if I can get to this by spring... and I'm sure if the 1/4" Swagelok doesn't work on this application, I'll use it somewhere else. We can chaulk it up to "experimental engineering procedural expenses"...
Or like the infamous Vietnam sniper Carlos Hathcock would call it; "SWAG" - scientific wild *** guess...
