I would recommend against it. My fist assignment for three years was to what Used to be RAF Martlesham Heath which was located on the edge of Ipswich about 45 minutes drive from what used to be RAF Bentwaters in the early 80's.

I would consider the Size of the CTD plus the steering wheel being on the wrong side for the roads there would be asking for fender benders or worse. As already mentioned parking would be almost impossible in most places. In addition it could also be damaged in transit. When I was stationed to Clark AB in the Philippines I shipped a car there. Some idiot somewhere after I delivered it to port to be shipped, left the driver's side window rolled down. When I went to pick it up it had an inch of water in the floor boards and mold and mildew every where. The Air Force paid for the damage and I had it cleaned and refinished in Angeles City but lost it to Mt. Pinatubo almost exactly a year later.

Again, I recommend leaving it in good storage at home awaiting your triumphant return from across the big pond.

Land Rovers have a bit of a cult following in the UK and arent that cheap. You can however pick up RHD Jeep Cherokees and Grand Cherokees for peanuts, and you'll still feel like you're in an American car.

Im in the same boat. Im in Okinawa for the next 2 1/2 years and miss my trucks bad. I could have brought one of them over but I would have had to ship it to Tokyo on my own dime for emissions testing. I dont think they would pass, well the 03 might but the 98 with 150 sticks and alot of black smoke aint passing. I didnt want them to rust and the roads off base are tight and parking is rediculas. At least your dad drives them and sends video because I can barely get anybody to even crank mine up once every two weeks. We bought a little nissan cube when we got here and someone gave us a little suzuki so we are mobil but its gonna be a long couple years for both of us. Good luck Bro.

AirBMan, thanks for service to our nation and me personally. We are all behind you ( on DTR anyway). I would leave my truck with Pappy. God Bless You and Your Family.

thanks again all of you and thanks to the rest of the servicemen as well. Its great to have a place to talk to some good common folk that will give you a straight answer. The truck will stay home and i will reward myself with buying a lift and new tires/rims
