ActronŽ OBD II Code Scanner

Anyone have one of these? Pocket or full function?

Question:
* Does the CEL have to be on before they will pick up codes or will they pick up any code (set or demand) that is there?
or this one

I have the small one. It seems to work rather well. It picks up pending and/or set codes and you can clear the codes if you want.

Not too bad for $80 odd bucks.

I have the very last one. Have only had to pull codes on my truck once but i've used it on other vehicles a few times. Not a bad little gadget for the $40 I spent on it. Can pull and clear codes with it. I haven't tried it without the CEL coming on though.

Can you use this to set the tire size?

I am going back to stock E rates tires. I picked up a brand new set with stock rims for $500. Now my spare will match, and I will have 3 extra wheels.

I know the two small ones will not, but I don't know about the other one. If someone doesn't post an answer, I'll post after I find out.

That's what I was thinking. With the "little ones" you have to look the codes up in a book, where as the "bigger one" has the definations on the scanner screen.

tire size is set with the abs menu. I think only the dealers scanner has the ability to access the abs menu.

Well, I went with the little cheapy here.
On sale at Horbor Freight for $39.99. It don't have the push buttons to clear the codes, but erases them after they flash three times. For the price, I figure it will serve my needs.
You can click on the pic for more info.

Looks like this one will allow you to change the tire size. It was the cheapest I found with this option

The autozone up here uses the orange one. Pulls codes and erases them. Be warned though, autozone will not clear the codes. They said it's against the law and there's a big fine for doing so if they get caught.

our distict manager wouldnt let us do it. so we would hand it to the owner if they asked us to erase any code and say, "just press here"

Tried that on the girl at autozone. Even offered her a $20 if she'd just turn her back. She said no because she would know what we were doing. OH well.
