Ain't that the truth.. Now since Diesel is Cool and you can buy a Triple Dog at the corner store, everyone has a 10 second 500HP diesel...

The electronic age has brought on its own brand of wingnuts..

"My starter makes more torque than your engine". Now there's a line for you. That's funny, right there. I'm calling up one of my buddies right now and using that one on him!

Starter makes more torque...

I pulled into Schucks auto parts a while ago in my old 6.9 Ford, looking for new wiper blades, one of the kids that works there was out front having a smoke, I get out and he says "Nice turbodiesel", I said thanks and told him these old fords didn't come with turbos, he says " Oh yeah, all diesel trucks have turbos".

Just tell the kid you know a guy with a Cummins that has 200 hp injectors X6 =1200+235 stock and a box that adds 180 -TST!!!!!
Wow 1615 HP. All before the decals are added!

Yeah it kills me when no one has a clue what theyre talking about
850 is pushin it for a Dmax with stock internals. There was a thread a while ago on www.dieselplace.com and IIRC the rods start to bend/break at around 900RWHP.

I think the hp level is closer to 725-750 where they break.
Then they also need girdles and more , like balanced.

I used to go to school with a kid that swore up and down his ole beater 86 f-250 2wd had 700 horses at the rear tires. I asked him what all was done to the engine and he told me it was a 460 bored .060 over, had a RV cam and had flat top pistons. He said his dad built the motor and told him that it had 700 rwhp. He wasnted to race my ole 84 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 4 inch lift, 33's and it had a 350 HO crate motor with 330hp(I have the reciept and buildsheet for it). We lined them up and I mopped his Edit. I asked him what the deal was and he said "Well, it was built for pullin , not racin."

Yep, decals ought to give you about 10-15hp each.

I got 1 for ya'll. I was talking to a coworker about the mods I've done to my truck before I last Dynoed, saying I hope to get 500hp. He then told me he has a '05 4wd ext. cab Chev. 1500 that he put a chip, intake, exhaust, underdrive pulleys, and a good cam he said add the advertised hp of the 5 mods togther, and he has 100+ extra hp. I could not and really dodn't even try to tell him otherwise, cuse he just seemed so confident that it was. So by his assumption, he had over 400hp. Yeh ok I told him, And I should be at 650hp the way you do your math.

That's OK, I went to the "parts store" and asked the 16 yr old for a carb rebuild kit for my '72 440, he wanted to know what kind of snowmobile it was for??????? . I felt very old explaining that is was a very popular engine in Chrysler cars and trucks from the late 60's and early to mid 70's.
