800 Mile Club With Only Stock Tank
Well, If anyone was following my ongoing saga over at the 700mi. club, you'll know I said I would start a new club if I made it to 800mi. Well, not only did i make it, but shattered through that elusive mark!!!
Don't know exactly how much fuel I had in the tank when I 1st filled up in Commerce, GA on the 10th. However I didn't top off that much so I figure about 36-37 gal.
The trip I did my final testing on was from Tupelo, MS to Memphis, TN. Started out with 19mi DTE, 731mi. on the overhead and a gallon jug of diesel. Never had to use the jug, as I made it to the Flying J in Olive Branch, MS.
0 DTE/Empty came at ODO 742.8, so I drove nearly 90mi past that point. Just as I was pulling into the truck stop to fuel, the fuel pressure had just started to fluctuate rapidly.
Before anyone asks, yes I did calibrate the ODO on a 100mi run vs. mile markers. 100mi. driven/99.1mi reading on ODO. So yes my mileage #'s below reflect the correction factor of +.9%
830.6 mi. traveled (822.4mi ODO Reading)
37gal used (Best guess on the high end)
22.4mpg

Not at 1st Begle. 1st 350-400mi. was interstate driving from Commerce, GA to home at 70-72mph and 2000 RPM's. Once home I did slow it down to 67-68mph/18-1850 rpm's on the freeway. Cheated a little in town, by putting truck in N, when costing up to red lights, and while sitting at them. All told the mileage breaks down as follows:
70% Interstate
20% Rural 2lanes w/minimal stops
10% Moderate to Heavy City Traffic
(Keep in mind the 1st 1/2 of that range I was NOT! going for best mileage)

It also looks like I will have consecutive 800mi./tank runs. This time I filled up as long as I could stand it once the pump clicked off. Trickled in for nearly 20min and still didn't have clear fuel in the neck. Best guess is about 38gal now. Showing 751 DTE, with 113mi driven so far.

Congratulations ... you bum! Kidding. Outstanding! I was going to ask how you drove, but you already answered. It's just amazing that a 6,500 lb. truck, with 500+ h.p. can get 22+ mpg.
I'm looking forward to seeing the next 800 mile run. I think it will be a little more scientific based on how long you stood there to fill this last tank up. Shoot, you may get close to 900 miles.
What does the owner's manual say for the 03+ truck what the stock tank capacity is? My 2000 model (long bed) is 35 gallons.
When I got my 700 miles, I had been on 'DTE 0' for only about 5 miles or so from what I remember. And I put ~34 gallons in it. I would imagine my '35 gallon' tank capacity does not include the neck. I would like to know exactly how much burnable fuel my truck can hold. But I'm not brave enough to push it as far as you did. Seems like you 03+ guys have a way to prime your fuel lines if you run out. Where I can't. If I run out, I'll have to put a large amount of fuel in the tank, some in the fuel filter, run the pump and starter, and pray. Or, tow it to the dealer for priming.

My best-
875 miles from Cheyenne, Wyoming to St Paul Minn non stop on 32 gallons for 27.3 mpgs. Guess if I wanted to push it could have made the 900 club. Strong tail wind and for the most part downhill but with my 12 valve 22 mpgs is the norm at highway speed empty.

If anyone's wondering, all testing was done with Edge on lev. 3/BDPP Lev.1 Tow, the whole time. Our's is also 35gal. tanks. The reason I guess is cause I don't know exactly how much fuel was left in the tank when I filled up. I'm guessing about 1/2gal. plus the 37.1 gal I added at fill-up. So I'm just guessing on the high side.
