my friends 8.1 onle gets around 8-10 acording to him. I don't know why GM has waited so long to offer a diesel in the burban

I wondered about this too, and found out they are limited by factory capacity to only 250,000 duramax engines a year. That's barely enough to meet the supply of all the diesel pickups they sell. So there aren't any "extra" engines for the 'burb. Seems to me that it wouldn't be that difficult to add capacity or build another plant, but what do I know?
Incidentally, the diesel going into the 'burb next year isn't the regular 6.6l Duramax, but a smaller one. No idea why.

Edit: Also, they'd have to lift the 'Burb to fit the Allison under there. That raised the CG on an already top-heavy vehicle, and lawyers don't like that.
