Yeah I went to Moss in Riverside and they were really nice and accomodating. The truck I am interested in is at the San Bernadino Lot.
I am also looking into purchasing in Las Vegas since there is a dealer there with over 60 Ram 2500 Cummins 600s on the lot. I will post whatever I do.

Frahm... My local dealer.

I just bought my wife's Durango there a few weeks ago. This time I did really well. I bought my truck there in 98 and took it in the shorts. My bad.
Buy your parts somwhere else, Frahm is about 10% higher than anyone else. Their service department doesn't impress me in the least.

KEVPOPPAPUMP, I drove the LA traffic for 5 years, up until two weeks ago. Sat in rush hour traffic on the 60, 10, and 91. Worked in Santa Monica for 2 1/2 years, had to drive through downtown twice a day. I wouldn't drive a 6 speed if someone gave it to me. That creep and beep is too hard on a clutch and way too hard on my 36 year old beat up knee.

Had manuals in my last two trucks. Pumping that clutch in bumper to bumper traffic every day gets old quick.

I keep thinking auto since my first car was a manual and I got burned out. Driving the Ram Cummins 6 spd was alot of shifting and real fun but I want to make sure I don't get burned out since I want to keep the truck for a long time. Trouble is that the auto 48RE's in So Cal are all in the fully equipped trucks that sitcker $43K+!

I've owned both sticks and autos , just depends on what you are going to do with the truck. I love my current six speed. I don't haul every day but when I do I'm glad I have it. When running empty I start off in 3rd and skip straight to 5th and then 6th. CJ

My 3.73's haul a 10k+ boat just fine. And as far as the six speed, I love it cause I can pick the gear myself and just idle along or speed up. And yes I drive in L.A. traffic to.

OH yeah I forgot.

With your extra power over what I have the 3.73's wont matter much for how much you can tow. Just in how fast you can speed up.

That's why you haggle 'em down. I just bought a Durango 4X4 Limited at dealer's net invoice, plus I got $4500 back from DC.

Go to edmunds.com and do your homework. Find out what the MSRP is, what the dealer invoice is, and what folks in your area are paying for a similarly equipped truck. Send some info requests to carsdirect.com, autoweb, etc. Dealers will contact you with their price, then you can play them against each other.

You can also do a search on my posts, I posted some tips on car buying that I learned from a professional negotiator. Worked out well for me. Can't remember the name of the post though...

unless you are towing a lot of weight why get the 4:10? I have the 3:73 and do tow a 5th wheeler about 6500 lbs and sometimes pull my 17 ft f/s boat with a 120 hp moter behind it and I have no promblems doing what i want , you sure would lose alot of fuel mileage with the 4:10 get the 3:73 you want need anything else and get good fuel mileage to! my 0.02

Get the truck you want. $3k over 10 years of ownership = BFD. Find a dealer that will scour the country for you...they exist. When I spec'd my Jeep there were 2 in the country set up the way I wanted it...dealer in Santa Cruz found both. $500 later and 3 days the Jeep was relocated to Santa Cruz for my purchase. Of course dealers are gonna try to sell you what they have...they want the sale "today". Just be sure you buy a truck rather than them selling you a truck...there's a difference.

Personally...I love my 6 shooter, but I use my $2k Z to pack my commute miles on (about 90 per day). I save my truck for truck duty, which isn't much traffic except coming back into town after a long weekend. My Z is a 5 speed and generally is fine in traffic.

My 3.55's are plenty for 20K lbs...the new 3.73's are prolly ideal at rated GCVW. 4.10's just aren't needed except in extreme cases (over GCVW rating). They're screaming pretty good at 80 mph.

Well I got a 5 speed and love the pure power that it will produce when you need it... 4.10 gears are great for towing power but if your running light then I would shoot for 3.73 gears... You'll get 24-26 MPG as a friend of mine does where I get 20-21 with the 4.10 gears...

I have 3.55's, just towed approx 11.5 to 12.5k in southeastern Ohio, no problem. Do wish I had 4.10's though, then I could put bigger tires on it the get the gearing Im looking for. As for six the speed, I don't mind shifting at all, in fact, I enjoy it.

Good luck and shop till you find the Dodge Cummins you WANT, dont settle for the for?.

I test drove both and personaly would do a 48re w/ the optional ATS tripple loc torque converter "offered by Dodge" & yes 3:73 gear would be ideal if your not towing over say 6000-8000lbs. Just my opinon.
