4BT into a late 80's Toyota Pickup
Hey team,
I have a late 80's toyota 4x4 that I am turning into a play truck, the rear box is gone for a custom deck, the front body clip and box need major work, so while I have them off I figured I would through a 4bt at the truck.
Questions:
Where is a good place for canadians to buy 4bt motors?
Is there a reasonable auto trans option that will bolt up to the toy T-case with adapters?
What kind of performance upgrades can you do to a 4bt, fuel plates, exhaust etc, what is a reasonable expectation of performance out of the baby cummins.
thanks
Walter

This sound sweet. I would love to do this to a Toyota 1 ton dually with a small dump bed. If you do this, there had better be pictures. You should be able to change the fuel plate, adjust the pump, and other things similar to the 12v 5.9s.
Good luck,
Nick

It would be nice to legally buy a LC with an I-6 diesel...

Call advanced adapters. From what I've read of the bread trucks had a 4bt/th400 combo. AA has a th350/toy case adapter but I'm not sure about a th400/toy case. It might be easier/cheaper/stronger to find a 4WD th400 with a NP231 already bolted to it.
If you turn up the cummins the toy drive train won't like it. Even with toyota solid axles stuffed with top dollar bling, I wouldn't expect them to hold to 450lbs of torque.

That is all good information, I have used a th350 adapter from advance before, and I have a 700R4, with T-Case sitting in my Garage, maybe it will fit if a 400 fits, just a bell housing adapter plater.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
