3.55's in '01 CTD

The '01 I looked at today had 3.55 gears in it. They guy said he has pulled his fathers car with the truck and 35's without a problem. I plan on pulling a '72 Cuda with it...should I be concerned with the 3.55 gears?

mine has 3.55's and I gross 30,000. You should have the roll off torque with no problem and the rest does not matter. You just downshift sooner, the rest does not matter.

I gross 19,300 lbs frequently with my 3500 with 3.55's......works great......I wouldn't want 4.10's because I spend so much time empty......3.55's and 35" tires are not exactly the best combo for towing but if you are only towing 6000 - 7000 lbs it won't be too big of a deal. 4.10's would be a better choice with 35" tires......it would be easier on the clutch or TC - especially when towing.

I have the '01 2500 with 3.55's and 285 tires (around 33's). I pull our 5'ver which weighs about 10,000, no problems. If all you are gong to pull is a car trailer and car you will have no problems. Recently went to Maryland and brought back a 78 Cutlass on a 16 ft flatbed trailer. 65 to 80 on the interstate. You'll love it. Also the 3.55's should help on fuel mileage.
