Is there a difference between the 2500's? I've seen some with just 2500 and then others like mine with Heavy Duty under the 2500. I've searched but couldn't find anything.

Dodge started using "Heavy Duty" emblems for visual effect. Chevy had them, so why not Dodge. So a 2500 is a 2500 whether it says "Heavy Duty" or not. Same for the 3500.

Now Chevys are different. A Chevy 2500HD has a higher GVW (which is the simular to yours). It also has a heavy duty full float rear axle (once agian same as yours) and bigger brakes front and rear. Where as the 2500 has a little bit of a lower GVW, non-floating rear axle, and smaller brakes. Now the 1500HD comes with the same non-float rear axle as the 2500.

Or you could be like the Ford models which insist upon calling themselves "Super Duty" since "Heavy Duty" just isn't enough. And while we're at it let's put it in at least 5 different places on the truck just to make SURE everyone know's it's a "Super Duty!"
