2500 or 3500

2500 or 3500
What would you feel would make a 3500 necessary over a 2500 for pulling a trailer? I guess I am asking weight-wise, trailer size, etc. Just looking for opinions. Kind of wondering if I would be better off with a 2500 instead of my 3500 flatbed. I pull an 18' trailer nearly every day that weighs (on average) probably 4K total.

Really comes down to how much snow you drive on, if its' a lot you will apprecaite a 4-tire truck over a 6-tire. If not, and if you don't often parrell park, you'll be fine with a 3500. It's a little more expensive to change out tires and brakes, but it's the small price you pay for capacity.

with only 4k to worry about imho i think a dually is a little over kill, unless u like the looks of it and dont mind parking all the way at the end of most parking lots.....ive been towing a 5k trailer with my 2500 for years and it isnt even a challenge for these trucks....ive seen many 2500's with gooses and 5th wheels towing some massive trailers with np.

I am slowly persuading myself into thinking that a 2500 with air bags would be the ticket. I am trying to sell my toyota tacoma right now which will leave me with just the dodge. I may start looking for a 2500 with a back seat

I haul my 12500 5ver with my 2500 4X4 5spd and no problems. My father In-law just traded his 2500 auto for a 3500 dually 4X4 6spd and loves the extra stability with the dually especially in cross winds, his is a 12500 5ver as well. It's bad parking at the shopping mall though.
