Remember how the Power Stroke was miraculously saved, since they dumped the 6.0 in favor of the twin turbo 6.4? Jump back to present day 2010, the new and upcoming 6.7 Power Stroke is the answer to all of Ford's diesel problems.

Not saying that this engine is going to have problems like every other stroke since the 7.3, but I'm not going to base my trust on the words of the media outlets. Everything new is always great to them.

2003, Ford scrapped the 7.3, (excellent engine), because it could not be made to meet the pending emissions changes. The 6.0 was based on early emissions, International told Ford the engine was unsuited for what they wanted to do with it. International said 275 hp/ 650tq max. Ford said 325hp/560tq. Ford had to make the engine OBDII compliant as well as satisfying customers with a truck that would actually accelerate with a load on it. Yes sir it was less than a desirable outcome. The 6.4 is a bored 6.0 with dual egr's and a compound turbo. Specifically designed to drive more egr to meet the 2008 emissions changes. It is a piece of crap also. However Ford did incorporate some new technology in the fuel injection system that I believe will set the standards for all manufacturers. (Piezio injectors). As far as the Scorpion goes, I have no idea. I do believe Ford understands that their reputation is clearly on the line with the diesel market. Time will tell.

my only point is the epa has really put a damper on the diesel market since 2004. The epa did bring about alot of good in the way of changes...but at this point its time to back off.

ford's 7.3 was an awesome motor....epa sent it by the wayside

As far as I'm concerned, the EPA killed the 12 valve also, but its 24 valve replacement is good enough that we don't really notice.

The EPA is on a mission to remove the diesel from every market segment in this country. They want to replace all of them with gas engines that burn twice the fuel they should but supposedly run "clean".

I never thought I would see the EPA mandate something that in turn forced Manufacturers to inect fuel into the exhaust stream in order to produce cleaner air

Ask a trucker about that piece of junk engineering.
The DPF & EGR systems have made junk of several previously reliable heavy duty truck engines.

I live with a trucker, in two years his truck has been through three DPFs, two EGR coolers, and I won't comment on the automated transmission either. (yes, i know it's not an EPA thing) His truck has not run right the entire time he has been driving for the company, even though it has been in the shop repeatedly.

If I could only find a site similar to destroked.com Id swap my 6.7 for there 6.7.

I mean, 8>6, Right?

Maybe Ill do the swap and start my own site, restroked.com, the site for Dodge guys who love Ford diesels. While Im at it Ill shoot my self in the foot.
so Blake when do u want to start this project. i could use a spare 6.7 for encase i ever wear out the one that i have now.

I think that we should start up a resistance against the EPA. I really don't appreciate being forced to pay for all of that emissions junk that they mandate be put on new trucks. I bet a new truck would cost about 15k less without all of that smogg junk. Just a little rant i am good now.

FORD has made great Gas engines over the past 10 years and I feel that this new Diesel HAS to be better than what they were getting from Navistar/INT. This engine must produce day in and out for the Die hard FORD Crowd or there will be no more die hard Ford Diesel guys. I have talked with so many PSD Owners and they are so sick of the Crap from Ford that many have converted to Dodge or GM. When you NEED a truck to work for you everyday and you are making the bills with it. A 6.0 or a 6.4 Powerstroke is not the path of least resistance. Right now the Cummins Powered Dodge is the best option for this. Then Duramax and the PSD bringing up the rear. Ford makes some nice trucks but until the new Diesel is proven I would stay away from it. This new motor could be the best thing ever made by Ford....WHY....FORD has learned allot of lessons on HOW to build a engine and they are putting that into these new 6.7l Scorpion Diesels. We will see in the near future what they can do. Good Luck to FORD...... Goverment Motors and FIAT will lose allot of customers if this goes as planned
I agree that Ford makes a very good heavy duty truck. The real problem has always been their diesel. I would own a Ford in a heart beat if a Cummins or Cat was an option. I disagree with you that "Ford has learned a lot of lessons on how to build a engine." If they had, they would have either contracted a proven I-6 or designed their own I-6. It really just defies common sense why Ford, with what they've been through, didn't seize the opportunity of dropping Navistar and put a "REAL" diesel in their trucks. People can ague all day long about the advantages of an I-6 over a V-8, but one fact remains: You can't argue with the success that Dodge has had with Cummins in their trucks. What would Ram be today without Cummins? Well, we all know it wouldn't be one of the big three. Ford missed a great opportunity to change IMO.
