2007 Heavy Duty Shootout

That was a pretty interesting read.
I would have liked to see what the fuel consumption numbers would have been while towing those trailers in identical situations and speeds.
Ford's V10 was also pretty impressive. Yeah, it's probably not fair to compare it to the V8's, but like someone pointed out each brand was asked to send the gas 3/4 ton of their choice to compete...
Overall, the thing that struck me most was how close all the diesels were to each other.
I was also surprised that the Chevy didn't squat much under the hitch weight of the trailer. They feel softly sprung, but apparently that's a false impression.

I have to say, I think we're finally getting back to the era that all three diesels are going to be competitive. And there is nothing better for us consumers than competition!
We all know that the Cummins is a fine product. GM looks like it as a very solid contender this year. And I've not heard of any Ford rumblings since the flame thrower fiasco and I have to say that in the case of the 6.4 no news is good news.
Bring it on!

Come back in 200K miles and let's see which diesel is still working. Course nobody cares about reliability or longevity.
Still wouldn't buy a Chevy, feels like sleeping in mama bear's bed, and Ford, no way, I've bought enough of their trannys. JMHO.

Take a minute or 2 and wander over to The Diesel Shop. Interesting reading on regen with the '08s. Sounds like GM and DC won't allow regen under 25-30 MPH but, Ford, regen in park if you want too. Some are less than pleased with this situation 'cause some like to park in their garage and don't want to burn down the house. Check it out.
As far as the mechanical aspects the engine doesn't seem to be as far out of the loop as the 6.0 was.
