2007 Cummins?
Any word out on what DCX/Cummins has in plans for 2007? This engine seems to be VERY secretive. The rumors seem to be that Ford is planning a 6.4L version of the PowerStroke, possibly with twin turbo's. I've seen some numbers mentioned at 350hp and 650 ft/lb torque. I'd like to know what Cummins is crafting up over there. I wonder if they will still stay with 5.9L like they have in the previous two generations, or if they will finally go with something larger.

Cummins has recently released updated QSB 6.7L and 4.5L diesel engines for agricultural use (AGCO uses them). Apparently these are just bored out or stroked versions of the 5.9L and 3.9L ISB engines. I am sure they will make there way into the Dodge pickup very soon. If fact, according to rumors on the allpar.com site, there already is an engine code for a 6.7L HO Cummins Turbo Diesel "ETJ". Have a look...

Maybe boring out the 5.9 will lighten it up a bit. They can make up the weight difference by beefing up the tranny. If anything, maybe the truck will have a better cent of gravity.

Pure speculation here. I wouldn't mind seeing two engines offered. One for power and one for fuel economy. The economy model would be for people who don't need the towing power. I am thinking sort of like the Sprinter vans. They have similar GVWR compared to 3/4 ton and heavy 3/4 ton truck, are said to get up to 25mpg. This may be because of there low weight though, about 4500 curb.

I don't think th 6.7L is an option, it has a fully structural block, meaning heavy! And this structural block is also not suited as well to a vehicle, It's just bigger.
I think it is a farther step backwards, at least at 150hp like we have in our new AGCO Tractors, Rotary Pump, not the Good ol' P-7100. Not that it's not good, but just not better.
It is still a good engine, we've got 4 out right now, and not a single engine problem yet (which is good, because Cummins in our area Stinks, and we aren't allowed to work on these engines.)

vicious cycle...
I think we should just buy class 8 rigs and make them our daily drivers and tow our jet-skis with them. What's the biggest engine we can get in a class 8? Then we take that engine, bomb it. And then we can talk about when they're going to come out with a bigger and more powerful engines ... because the current ones just don't quite get the job done any more. We can even discuss when the sleepers will get bigger, because hey, we've just had a 2nd kid! Its a never ending process!
