2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 CRD
#16
Just re-fueled it this evening after taking my wife & daughter out to eat...hand calculated, it averaged 23.6 miles per gallon......I'll get a better idea after the next fill-up, as I'm sure the dealer didn't top it off at delivery in the same manner I did this evening.....the overhead was showing 22.4 mpg, trip odometer was 385.1 miles, the DTE said 99 miles, 465 miles total on the CRD so far. Beats the hell out of 17 mpg I averaged with the '02 Liberty 3.7L gasser. Nothing's changed at DC about fluid levels....although the engine oil level was between the "min" and "max" marks, I prefer to have mine at the upper level of "max"....took a little over 20 oz's of 0W40 Mobil 1 to get it to my liking.

I am not aware of a RHD version, I was told this is a kind of a test. If it sells well, they will build a lot more. First run is about 5000 units. If it takes off, I am sure a RHD may foloow but not right now.

Maynard I'd suggest getting a real diesel oil in there - not just the one that it's convenient for them to spec... If it's the Mobil 1 0w40 european car formula it will work, but it's not formulated specifically for diesels.. Sounds pretty good for a first report of 23mpg.

Maynard - just because it meets specs doesn't mean it's designed for diesels, it's a cover one cover all type oil, primarily designed for gassers. If you want to stick with the same brand and a full synthetic (rotella t syn is a group 3 petroleum based 'synthetic' ), go for the mobil 1 truck and suv 5w40. It's relabeled Delvac 1, which is one of the best synthetic diesel oils out there.
That's awesome you got a CRD. Good to see some are brave enough to be the first ! I saw a CRD in the grocery store parking lot a few days ago - with a big lift kit, tires, big roof rack and offroad lights - it was pretty cool.

If not, are you really saving enough on fuel to justify trading in a 3 year old vehicle? I see lots of people trading in vehicles early for more efficient ones, but the depreciation losses are higher than the fuel bill would be for keeping the old vehicle a few more years.
I want to go look at a Liberty CRD one of these days. I am thinking about selling my RV and my 3500 and replacing with a Liberty CRD. Suprisingly, local dealers seem to have a number of them on the lot.

No.

Probably not, but the '02 was paid for and you only get to hop on the merry-go-round once, so why not ?
