2000 Ford SD conversion to 03 common rail

I have a 2000 Ford SD and an available 03 common rail. I plan to make a conversion in the future. My main question for now, and may determine when and if the switch takes place. Will everything still work like it does now, or what cannot be converted to still operate. What happens to the Ford computer, it operates more than just the engine. Not that its real important but will the "Lie-O-meter" still work, even if its still wrong. The truck is really nice and I don't want to sacrifice the accessories. I know there is a lot of you that have a lot of info. on this subject, and I greatly value your opinions, and when and if I start the conversion you can bet I'll be picking your brains. Thanks for any response........Jay
