1st Time Buyer, What to Look For ??
I will be making my first purchase (this is also my first post) of a Diesel truck, my requirements are quad cab, automatic, full size bed, cloth interior. Options are 4WD and Dually. I am open to all opinions from interior to drivetrain, I have been told to go with a 2004 or newer due to the commonrail system ? I will be selling my 2000 S-10 that has been a GREAT truck, if anyone is interested its very clean, 2.2, fiberglass cap, spray in bedliner, ALL synthetic fluids, New GM trans installed recently W/ Royal Purple fluid, ALL new hoses (Rad. & Heater), new serp belt, K&N Cold air intake system, High flow cat. converter (Summit Racing), Gibson stainless muffler, Taylor wires, the truck has 128,000 miles and I will be taking it to Florida again this year from Ohio (3rd year in a row) I am not sure about leaving the stereo system in, I would like to put it in my new truck if it will fit this is another issue. I was looking at a truck here locally and the way the factory stereo is can I install a aftermarket Kenwood? Any and all help would be appreciated !! Thanks !

Unless you just like , have to have newer [ troubles ]
I say a 12v , 2nd gen , considered almost anywhere to be the best all around Cummins , then with fuel prices , get the 3:55 gears , about 3+ miles per gal more .
Unless you just have to drive a computer instead of a truck .

I second that, I have seen countless numbers of people on this site alone who sell their newer trucks for an older 94-98 12v. Find a nice one in good shape and it will last you a long time. They are simple and relatively cheap to fix if you have any troubles. I have a 95 thats gets 20 mpg and love it, I dont see myself ever selling it. Why exactly do you want to go with a newer commonrail truck? The creature comforts are nice in the newer trucks but the newer engines just cant compete with a 12v.

I'm with them. I could have bought a newer truck, but I ended up with 2 12V and then picked up a 24V for the work truck. I'm selling a 12V now, just because I don't need 3 trucks with diesels, but if it were me I'd buy another 12V with the P-Pump.
