Angry 1999 and 2002 fuel problems

It has been cold in Ne. and around 0 my 99 I thought gelled. It is not in a heated garage and started right up, but I let it warm up for 15 minutes and could't get over 1000 rpm. Finally after an hour I limped it to town, changed fuel filter and added power service. All was well I thought! Next morning same thing. It got up to 22 degrees outside and it still would't start, added 911
at noon. At 3:00 I aimed torpedo heater under it for an hour and had to ether
it to get it going. I have had it do it one more morning since then.
Now on the 2002 it is in a garage that never gets to freezing. We can start it and back it out for 10 minutes and when we take off it may not have throttle -or some throttle or it may not be hitting on all 6. Once it is warmed up it will come out of it. Put a temperary fuel pressure gauge on it and read from 8 to 11 psi. When the weather got cold we blended the fuel 50/50 with #1. Is it possible this thinned the fuel to much for the 2002? Thanks.
Doe's anyone have any thoughs or solutions? Please reply!

Either and grid heaters are an explosive combination. Just a word of caution.

My '99 has started and ran fine all week in below zero morning temps without plugging in the block heater. I'm running 1 qt of 2 stroke and one qt of white Power Service per tank full. No problem.

What kind of fuel pressure do the trucks have? I noticed that mine dropped a few pounds, but I'm still running around 10 psi at zero degrees.

Pre-filter or post-filter? I have plenty of fuel pressure pre-filter (16 PSIG at idle) but since ULSD came out, I only have 10 or 11 PSIG post-filter when starting in 40 to 50 degF weather - after 20 to 30 minutes, post-filter will come back to 14.5 to 15 PSIG.

I am looking for fuel pressure gauge now, but would like one that stays in truck. Is yours electric or manual? No one around here seems to run a fpg.

It's a Westach dual combo fuel pressure gauge (2 gauges in 1 housing) - it matches the Westach EGT/Boost gauge sold by Geno's. It's electric. On the 2nd generation 24 valve trucks, a fuel pressure gauge is critical to protect the VP44 injection pump since it relies on fuel for lubrication and cooling.

Welcome to DTR
(Notice Big Red Letters?)

Dude! From NE and you didn't run an anti-gell?, You don't plug the truck in? You don't have a fuel pressure guage?

We need to talk.......

50/50 blend of fuel is not a problem. Your fuel pressure is too low at 8-11 PSI. Add 20 OZ of PS to each vehicle and drive them for 20 miles. Change the fuel filters in both. Plug them in when it is below 40F.

Glad you are here.

My truck sat outside from last Friday till Tuesday, the wind chill was below zero every day, and I had it plugged in for 2hrs and it wouldn't start so i put in some power service and left it plugged in for another 30min and then the battery was to weak so i had to use a jumper/booster pack and it fired right up. Good Luck!!!
Friend of mine has a ferd diesel van and it ran for 5 min and shut off and still isn't running right and he just replaced fuel pump/ injector pump.
