1978 dodge diesel???
anybody know anything about these trucks?
my father saw one in oklahoma last week with the mitsubishi diesel.
these were a factory option from what i hear, because he said he had a guy bring one in to his shop when he was a mechanic back in the early 80's and the owner said he bought it new from dodge with the diesel in it.
anybody know anything about the motor? im a big fan of late 70's dodge trucks( i own a little red race truck, and am currently trying to rebuild a 78 warlock) i would love to have this truck to play around with!
so if you know anything chime in!

Yes, it was available in '78 and '79. It's a 4 liter non-turbo engine, so as you can imagine it is not exactly a rocket ship. Very few were sold, likely due to the lousy performance. There's not much potential there, but if you want a high MPG truck to putt around in they will get the job done.

You could probably get away with a low boost setup. Compression is too high, and the piston oiling is inadequate for boost like we run.
Honestly I think you'd be better off with a 4BT Cummins, you could get 220 RWHP out of one of those with much less trouble. Or if you want unique, put a 4-53 Detroit in an old Dodge.
