Since I learned to drive in a 2ton Chevy truck, I dont see a problem with this.

What I would have a problem with is taking someone out of a Geo metro and putting them in the a truck. If she has learned to drive the truck and obviously knows how big it is since she was careful getting out of the driveway and in no hurry, she is being responsible about driving it.

I think the insurance agencies will disagree with you. The premiums are much higher on boys than girls. Statistically young boys have more tickets and accidents than young girls do.

The only vehicle I would allow my 16 year old daughter to take her drivers license test in was my 99 CTD CC dually, I figured if she could pass the test in that she was ready for the road. The licensing officer even made her parelal park, she passed without any mistakes. She has also driven on gravel roads and around the farm since she was 3 or 4 on my lap.

Like you said, there is no substitue for experience.

It took me three tries to pass the test and I finally got it right the third time 14 out of 15 errors...

And I've never gotten a ticket or crashed into another vehicle...

I did get kicked out of the highschool parking lot for reckless driving, however...

And at my age we still pay higher than girls too.....

If that is the case, Ok ill buy it I agree, boys show off more and drag race more etc etc etc. BUT every "incident" i have had has been a girl that has hit me. They might be good drivers, but they are just careless..... Why my insuracnce is higher? I dunno, but in all fairness it should be equal..

Hell, not everyone may be ready to drive those kind of vehicles at that age, but I learned on a '92 Dodge Caravan, and a mid 80's Chevy Custom 30 with a dump body.

Exactly, Young males pay more for insurance due to the fact that they show off more, hence more risk. BUT, its changing fast, very fast, insurance companies are realizing that young girls are just as much of a risk if not more of risk then young males due to "constant cell phone use", over-reactions "emotional", make-up in the car, ect ect.
Just to confirm this, I have a brother and two sisters, both my sisters have been in accidents, neither myself or my brother have been in accidents.
Just my $.02, don't mean to offend any of the female drivers out there,

If I had kids that I cared about, when they got to be 16 they wouldn't be driving no Geo Metro.

There's a guy who does risk management speaking named Gordon Graham, and one of his sayings is something to the effect that it doesn't matter who had right of way, the person with the most lug nuts on their side is going to win the accident. Dodge 1 ton=lots of lug nuts.

Likewise, if someone complained to me that they caught my kid backing out of a driveway overly slowly and carefully, I'd be happy and feel like I did my job as a parent. If she had done a Flying Rockford out of the driveway...

Regarding younger drivers, it used to be true that guys showed off by driving fast rigs agressively, and girls showed off by doing their hair and makup, wearing a nice skirt, and strutting around... Guys getting into traffic accidents was kind of predictable...but those stereotypes are changing, and the difference in accident rates is closing.

Interestingly, when you graph accidents per miles driven by age, it looks like a U. Something to think about as I get older...

true, can't argue with statistics. i was taking a cheap shot at women drivers in general. i've seen some real bad ones. no offense to any of the women here, if you can handle a CTD you must be a decent driver. my girlfriend is one of the best drivers i know and even she agrees with me about other women drivers. i seriously could have t-boned dozens of them since i got my CTD.

No offense taken. There are female and male drivers who can't drive their thumbs up their butts.
