12v into a 73-87 Chevy Question

Has anyone ever swapped a 12v into an older body Chevy pickup truck? A friend just purchased a 12v from a doner truck and would like to swap it into his 1984 c30 crew cab. What problems did you have with firewall clearance, and what was needed for it to fit?

Thanks

there are members here that have done it. do a search and see what you can come up w/. these trucks did have an inline 6 but nothing near as big as a cummins. motormounts would have to be fabbed, and adaptor w/ be needed if want to used the stock tranny ( most likely a TH400).

motor mounts need to be fabbed. dont go with a chevy tranny unless you go with an Allison torque converter plus the adapter is expensive, i sold the one off my truck for 800. if you dont want to lift the body you can put the motor on the bottom of the frame but if its a 4x4 you will need to lift the truck or cut the oil pan up to have clearance. when i had the auto behind mine( TH350 and TH400) it eventually turned the TC into an internal slushy. any other questions let me know cuz i am giong to have to redo mine this winter since the person that installed it in my truck did it half edit. good luck
