I don't think this is true.

If you put a exhaust brake on a 98 1/2 cummins doesn't it come with a valve spring kit?? same with the older 12 valve?? I heard this from a BD dealer when I was looking at buying a exhaust brake for my 2000 cummins He said to 99 + had stronger springs that could handle the exhaust brake.

To each their own but between the 12V and the 24V I'll take the 24V. My dad has a 1998 12V and I have a 1999 24V. His truck runs good but takes longer to spool up and just seems more sluggish at lower rpm than my 24V. On the other hand he hasn't had to replace 4 LP's either?

I wish I had the older interior in my 98... I hate the heat/AC controls!!!
Agree. I don't see why people think the "new dash" is all that great. Can't turn the A/C off and on when you want, fan is always on, no recirc position.
Personally I feel '97 was the best year made.

The fan always being on is an easy one to fix. Just pull the low speed wire out of the plug going into the resistor pack. "Low" becomes "Off" in 10 minutes with a test light.

I need to do that and put the A/C on a button... can't have air blowing at your face and feet w/o the compressor on?

Besides that having the A/C on when it's twenty below zero makes about much sense as teats on a boar.

I'm glad you cleared that up! I was thinking that's well worth $7400!

Try it sometime. The compressor helps warm up the engine a little faster. I do recommend putting the air temp controll on the red
