I love me the Isuzu diesel engine. What a coincidence that their biggest sellers are inline 4 and 6 cylinders in 3.9l and 5.9l respectively. Also what a coincidence that they used a lot of the same tech on the Dmax.

Are you saying Isuzu's biggest selling diesels are a 3.9 inline 4 and a 5.9 inline 6? I think thats Cummins. You need to check your facts. Were'nt you the one who said the DT466 is the same thing as the 7.3 powerstroke?

I saw on CNN today that some want to increase taxes on gas and diesel so the price is inline with Europe. Should that happen most cars and trucks sold in North America would be junked or hardly driven anymore and anything that gets less than 50 miles to the gallon would be almost unsellable.

um. what? I have not been able to make any sense of any of your posts. Put the beer down, and construct sentences that are of the english-language/grammar variety please.

I'm saying that Isuzu makes 3.9L and 5.9L Cummins clones (very good engines, BTW). Are you saying they don't?

they arent clones. First of all the Isuzu inline 6 (6BD1T) is 5.78 liters If im not mistaken, and has a much lower compression ratio than the cummins ISB/6BT.

GM is run by idiots. How many million did they waste in putting a little "GM" emblem on all their cars? Morons. GM couldn't build a car people wanted if their life depended on it, because of all the committees. They're as bad as the gov't.
Chrysler does make a very good car, at least anything made since around 2002-03 or so. Quality-wise I'd say they're ahead of GM.
As much as I hate Ford, they're the one company seems to have a clue with regard to what the people want. If Chrysler goes under, I bet Ford will do anything it can to get the Cummins contract, and then GM won't have a chance. GM is too stupid -- they will have the audacity to think the Duramax is the chit. Ford knows better -- look at all the trouble they've had trying to have a good diesel. The 7.3 was the last decent diesel they had, and that still wasn't saying much compared to a Cummins.
I do have to wonder when the marketing departments need to wise up. The 4.5L Cummins in a half-ton would be ideal. Screw what people "think" -- once they see the results, I think they would be swayed. Heck they already know you don't need a V8 in a passenger car. 4-bangers can do just as well providing power AND good economy.

I actually think it's about time they came out with a Diesel 1500. I can honistly say that problably 60% of the diesel guys out there today only buy it cause they want a diesel. They hardly tow, they hardly haul, they just want the economy of a diesel. So if you could get one in a 1500? For sure I would have bought one. I went from a gas engine to a diesel because when I tow the millage with the gas was really crappy. had I been able to buy a 1500 with a diesel, I most certainly would have. Lighter, just about the same power as mine, this and that? Yup, most I tow is around 7,000lbs (sometimes more) so the 1500 would be able to do that no problem.
I'd get one. I would really love to get a little s-10 with a 4 cylinder in it (like the jeta) think that would be a hot ticket. GM truck with that, sweet
