**NEED BATTERY ADVICE- OPTIMA RED TOP v. INTERSTATE MEGATRON***
hey all, ive got a 2007 dodge turbo-diesel 2500 4x4 and wanted to know if any of u vet's. out there knew which was a better battery for MY truck. ive got a marine corps buddy that works on diesels who told me that Optima Red Tops are top-notch, but ive also heard Interstate Megatrons are good.
if any of u have some info to help me decide which batteries would be BEST for my truck out of these 2 choices id greatly appreciate it.
-thx all

Id consider them both premium batteries, so if you dont need the bling of saying you have optima batteries id go with the lower price. I use to sell interstate batteries during my school days, and they always did well and last a pretty long time. just my .02

right on. well the price i had offered to me was about the same for each battery- so i wasnt sure which to go with. besides the "bling" factor does either battery have a slight edge over the other performance wise etc.?

the Optimas wont leak at all where most others will. even my factory sealed leak a bit. optimas would be my choise.

I have had an Optima [yellow top] last 12 years and they don't leak as stated before.
I haven't used the Interstate megatrons, but 12 yrs on a battery is hard to argue with.

You might also want to try DEKAs. I used to drive truck for them. Depending on where you live they go by several brand names. Here is ther site, http://www.dekabatteries.com/ If you can't find anything local call the main number and talk to them. They make Wonch, TBS, and several other brands. They also make the batteries for Autozone, Exxon, Gulf and other. Keith

If you don't like corrosion get the red tops, there is absolutely none.
I replaced my red tops with new ones last summer.
They were 12 years old, one is in a small tractor now, the other powers an electric fence.
Still going great, just not enough to crank a Cummins.

A lot of street rodders and hot rodders use the Optima. I have one in my Cobra. BUT, the only reason I bought it is because it sits right over the EFI computer, and the passengers feet. In case of an accident, I don't want it to leak.
Consumer Reports does a battery test every couple of years. The top 3 are usually Interstate, Die Hard, and Autozone. I usually use Autozone; they're inexpensive and easy to come by for replacement under warrenty.
