Wanting to run used motor oil

Like the title says, how much and how do you fill. I have an 02 pretty much stock in my sig. Do you pour in the oil and then fill with diesel? I will only be burning my oil and maybe our Durango's. I was planning on filtering it somehow, what's the easiest way? Rotella 15w 40 and 5w 30 in the Durango.

Advice, yes, no, run away and don't risk the VP?

Thanks

i wouldnt have a truck with a vp. lol, not being a edit. but i dont like them. if i had a truck with a vp i would run and dont risk it. but i have burned plenty of old motor oil in my 12v p pump. after i change my oil i just pour it in on top of whatever is in the tank and go. you may use it up a little at a time. like a quart or 2 a tank. 3,000m/18MPG=166G/30G per fillup= 5.5 fillups
12 qt oil/5.5 fillups=2.2 qts per fillup. by the time you run out of used motor oil its time to change your oil again. and you save about 10 bucks worth of diesel every time you change the oil. maybe it wont hurt the pump at 2 qt per fillup. but then you have to worry about dirt and water getting in your oil while it sets. not to mention the mess if you have to clean it up off the garage floor. give it to one of your buddies with a 12v and see how his truck runs on it! or just take it to auto zone. they get rid of it for free

This has been talked about a lot. I've invited but never seen any evidence that it hurt an engine. WMO is run by a lot of guys and I ran a lot through various diesels I've had including an Isuzu NPR, an '81 Mercedes, the Perkins in my boat and my 1st gen Dodge. In the Dodge I once ran straight motor oil with no diesel. Ran fine.

I don't currently run any in my CR but I doubt if it would hurt anything. I'm on the go a lot and I get my oil changed at a shop and I don't want the hassle, bla, bla, bla.

I filtered mine through a couple layers of tee shirt into a bucket that also caught any water. Then poured it in.

You'll get the big scare warnings and the "not me" statements here but I wish someone could actually show that it hurt something. Till then I say make up your own mind.

when I have WMO I put in about 3 gallons to every tank. saves me a good 10 bucks per fill up. I strain it by pouring the WMO through 3 or 4 paint strainers. It has worked good for me for about 20K now. No ill effects seen from the performance side, but I'm not about to take the engine apart to see if it's messin up anything either.

I used to burn it in my old GMC 6.5L turbo diesel. I pumped it through a 4 micron filter and cut it 50% with diesel fuel. It ran for thousands of miles like that. I just dont dare run it through my VP44. They have enough trouble with out waste oil.

I run it but I don't filter it at all. I dump in a gallon at every fillup of at least 20 gallons. It smokes a bit more but since it's visible particulate it doesn't really pollute the air much. I figure the fuel has a greater chance of having dirt in it than my oil I drain myself. The fuel filter will do it's job and catch anything big enough to cause harm.

I figure it's better to burn the oil than to put it in the landfill or pour it on the ground which is what my dad always did. Besides, it does a great job of lubing the VE pump which is fuel lubed. I always run PS additive also.

Regards

Edwin
