Oil added to diesel fuel for pump lub.

Hello
A friend of mine went to a local diesel shop to have his ford diesel injection pump rebuilt, anyhow the guy at the shop told him to add a quart of 10w-30 motor oil to his diesel fuel every fill up (35 gal)to lubricate the injection pump,he said oil dissolves into diesel fuel,Has anyone ever herd of this?

Yep. But I wouldn't use a multigrade engine oil. Better to use a non detergent straight 30w oil. Or use TC-W3 two stroke mixture oil.

Or better yet use a designed for diesel fuel additive that adds lubricity.
Not only will it be cheaper than motor oil but will likely have the added benefits of injector cleaning, anti-gel and cetane boost.
