is it just me or is diesel just gonna keep going up???
i swear that GAS prices have been staying approx the same ($2.20 ish) in my area for the past month or so, yet diesel has gone up every time ive gone to fill my tank...... about .06 - .08 each week.... i understand that the switch over to ULSD has fully taken place now and was expecting the prices to drop and level off, not go up up up.... i understand that (being in thew cold N/E) we typically have a lil different blend also, but with prices closing in on 3.00 a gallon if this keeps up, thats really gonna suck!...... beginning of last week i 2.51 was the lowest, now the lowest im seeing is 2.63...... high is 2.70...... just by the factor of diesel being an overall "less refined" fuel shouldnt that alone lower the cost to the cust as compared to gas???? *** is going on here??

I took a picture of the price at the station I usually fill up at yesterday, and it was $3.13 . Did not take my time to upload it to my gallery though. Ended up filling at another station bout a mile down the road for $3.05. Stuff needs to start going down!!!

Welcome to winter-time diesel fuel prices.
Diesel goes up in the colder weather as suppliers start to divert diesel fuel inventory to be used as home heating oil.

The single, most overlooked reason for fuel price fluctuations: retail price is based on demand, not cost. And, to a lesser extent, it's based on what they think they can get away with.

jj3500, where in SoCal are you right now? I am just north of MCB Camp Pendelton, in South Orange County. The price I threw up in my post last night was what I filled up for yesterday. I have not seen it for $3.70 anywhere! (well I was driving to Vegas earlier this year and at a station in the middle of nowhere it was $4.00/gal, but that is understandable, middle of nowhere and all) If I saw it for $3.70 I would move on to another station!

Ive been watching that too. It went from 2.55 to 2.65 here recently.
You considered brewing biodiesel? The methanol cost me 225 for 55gal (and you even have a local dealer in NH). all in all its costing me about 1.50gal to make I think. Me and another DTR member down here in mASS have also done veggie oil conversions.
My first batch didnt come out so good. Seems like it takes a bit of practice.
A funny thing about that methanol price is that its up a lot from last year but AFAIK natural gas is cheaper now than last year. I think this stuff is a byproduct of natural gas refining.

It's going up like crazy here in SoCal. Last week when I left for work, I passed a independent station & it was $2.93. When I passed that station on my way home around 4:30 PM, it was $3.17!! I "lucked out" & found a station that had Diesel for $2.79 earlier this week but I need to fill up again soon & I'm not looking foward to it.

When you have a oil based political party in power this is what you are going to have to put up with. Just think, if Scary Kerry had got in ketchup would be 6 dollars a bottle! Oh, just for the record, I don't like any of them.
It has been proven that they are controlling the prices by availability, they shut down plants for no reason or throttle them back. We are still paying almost the same prices as when catrina came threw and shut down some of the refineries.

I live in a small town and price is $2.53 but to the next city to the east(10miles) its $2.45-$2.65. In the city towards the west(15miles) the price is $2.57-$2.77. So I have a decent range of places and prices to fill up at when comes time.
