Well, IF the gas prices are a result of higher crude prices, then it stands to reason that the higher crude prices would result in a higher gas prices.

Example......30 bucks a barrel (long time ago), and gas was 75 cents/gal. So, at 60 bucks a barrel, gas should be 1.50/gal. but we all know it was 2.50/gal. So, where is all that extra money going

BUT, since the gas companies are reporting record profits, I have a hard time believing it is anything other than price gouging on a nationwide level.

Like was said, when gas prices fall, it takes a long time, but when there is any excuse to raise the price, it goes up immediately.

If it wasn't greed, then the price of gas should not have gone up at all, but when it was sold out, it was sold out. Instead, they raise the price and get twice as much money for it until it runs out. That is simple greed at work. There was no REASON/NEED to raise prices on the gas that was ALREADY sitting in the tanks of the gas stations when the current issues arise. But they did, because they could.

If the prices hadn't shot up like they did, no one would have paniced and ran out and filled every container they had with gas.

The pure unadulterated greed of most americans are what is gonna drive this countries economy into the ground, and soon, english will be a second language...with Chinese being the primary.

I wonder how long it wil be before employers realize that with the current gas prices, it won't be long before their employees will start 'not showing up' cuz they can't afford the gas to go to work to pay for the gas.

Don't you know...refinery staff get free fuel if they keep their mouth shut about all the fuel/oil the refineries have.

I'm guessing that the Chevron unit at Port Fourchon is closed on account of the LOOP being hit head on and the road being washed out. But I haven't heard about the refinery units in Baton Rouge. There were two oil rigs set adrift, but there wasn't any spillage.

Our governor really laid it heavy on the two in state refineries that supply 99% of Montana's fuel today for raising prices 10-20¢ a gallon.
Absolutely no reason for this since all of our crude comes from Montana, Wyoming and Alberta.
