anyone running home made bio diesel?

I am thinking of buying the kit to make my own bio diesel. Can the 05's with the Cat run bio or will it plug the Cat. Also how is it on the pumps and injectors?

I've been thinking about it too. The appleseed processor looks to be the simplest to make. The ones you buy seem very expensive for what you get. Problem is finding used vegetable oil to put in it. Most of the restaurants already have contracts to get rid of the grease, and don't want to be bothered with some guy that only wants a little bit. Most of the people with 3rd gens that are trying it say it works fine, but you shouldn't exceed 50% bio.

Just a heads up for those of you thinking about making your own bio for your 3rd gen. It would seem that in the HPCR trucks, you are asking for problems if you run anything over 40% bio in your system, and some think that is already too much. There is plenty of info (if you can find it) at:

40% is a bit conservative but close. I've been running B50 in a '03 since it was almost new. First two tanks of B100 clogged the fuel filter in 800 miles.

So everyone knows to carry an extra filter and be ready! As it runs cleaner and will clean the gunk in your tank and everywhere else!
