acetone in fuel???
i know this is problay old but i just started reading about it,is there any truth to it?lots of reading on it and it does sound promising.has any one had any sucsess with it?our diesel just shot up 10 cents a litre{35 cents a gallon}and im looking for as much economy as possible.

i tried it,and it works well in the carbed gassers. It adds about an hr of operating time to a 6 gallon tank on a Dixie chopper or Steiner mower. In my CTD it seems to help too,but its hard for me to get accurate mpg figures,i tow a lot,and the mileage is hard to track accurately how many towing/non towing miles.I think it is better on fuel, but its just my guess at this time.i mix at 3 oz/10 gallons in gassers and 2 oz/10 gallons in the ctd

My testing is much more is much more extensive than mythbusters, i took my test over a yrs time,3800 gallons of fuel ,and the same conditions every week, averaged over a season, and it does work in carbed gassers, such as small engines,in golf carts and lawn mowers.I log engine hours, and time for my jobs, and they are the same every week, all season.I also run a 1000 gallon gas tank, which i ran treated, and untreated. If i fill my dixie choppers 2 fuel tanks without it,I will be sitting, out of gas in exactly 4 hrs in normal cutting conditions, with acetone,i get 5hrs 15 minutes, this same thing happened every week with every mower(6 of them) and 3 blowers, and 30 golf carts, care to expain is otherwise. On one old updraft carbed 65HP Jacobsen gs tractor, that runs exactly 8 hrs a week, the fuel usage dropped from 2.5 GPH,to 1.5 GPH,and the operator doesnt get eye watering fumes from the front mounted muffler when turning into the wind anymore.

I tried it in one of my dodges two summers ago at several different mix rates in about 8 tanks of diesel and found hardly any change. It may have varied .2 tenths of mile to the gallon but it varied up and down not just up. I give it a tumbs down.

The main ingredient in most diesel fuel additives including Power Service is Stoddard solvent, aka dry cleaning fluid.
I've read of people who've run acetone having problems with it causing seals and hoses to leak. I'd be a bit weary of it.
