I got the frame stripped down to the axles. Next is wire brush and degrease to prep for new paint. Solved an issue with a large fuel tank/cross-member conflict.

Your eighties vintage crew probably has the newer design of the two piece drive shaft. The front section of mine is about 20 inches long. The cummins trucks with two piece drivelines have a front piece about 10 inches long. The cross member I am having touble with now is the one that supports the carrier bearing. Yours id probably about eight inches closer to the front.

I hope to start my conversion this fall, Old Blue in my pictures is losing the 440 and going with a TT CTD and a 47RH, and also becoming a 4X4 with the 205. It will ride on a d60/d80 with 4:10's and 37 or 38" rubber.

It has a 3" body lift and custom springs when I bought it. Currently looking for a lift system that will at least maintain the height I have and ride better then a skateboard without 3000 lbs in the bed.

No I have seen less lift with the same size tire, My last 2 Ramchargers had 35's with only 4" lifts. But this was how the Crew came when purchased it had 36" Hummer tires which were shot. But I might go to 40's once I get better springs

Update
Don't forget to check out the link to my build in my signature.
The project has been at a standstill for a couple of weeks. Hard to imagine all the things that can come up to keep you from what you want to do.
I think I solved my tranny dilema. I bought another donor chasis. this one is a 93 dually with 6bt, NV4500, np205, Dana 60 front/70 rear.
Once I get it home I will have to start another thread. Now my 92 cummins, auto, 205 gets to live in my ramcharger. I'm thinkin' hood stack.
All I am short for the dually conversion is the rear fenders. If anyone has a source. Send me a PM.
