I pulled the Hemi from mine and swapped in a Cummins. Tremendous amount of work!! Everything gets changed. all mounts, radiator, almost all wiring, driveshafts. You have the benefit of having all the material to swap there. I had to hunt up things as I needed them. Still, I would not recommend it. Not an undertaking for the faint of heart, and it taxes the relationship as well, when the project drags on.
Sorry to hear about your truck. Best of luck.

Another question, rather than an answer but here goes.....

Might it not be easier to just find another cab and box and use whatever parts you can from yours. I think the suspension on the 1500 might be way too light for eh diesel equipment and the driveshaft and electronic controls would have to be modifies to work and that would bee just the start. Seems like it might leave a big chance on ruining the rumble bee? I know there are a few boxes out there, and if you look hard enough I would think you could find a rear end total with a good cab. Then it would be easier to swap your electroinics etc into another 2500 cab and go from there.

Like I said, just a few questions.....

Another option would be to find a V10 gasser of similar year to yours and repower it.

No easy answer but anything is possible given enough time and money.
