4BT '83 Toyota
Almost done with my project and just wanted to see what some other Cummins guys had to say...
'83 Yota
'85 4BT
'Borg Warner tranny
'Dana 30 divorced transfer
If you guys are interested in seeing it, I'll post up some pics and a vid or something.
And yes... I made it fit

Cant wait to see this one.
BTW - anyone know of the location of the Top Gear test (or destruction, rather) of a Toyota diesel pickup? The only one I can find anymore is really poor quality, and you loose the sound altogether in the middle of the video. I thought it might serve as a fun source of inspiration for this project's owner...

Chris Williams,
I will be trying to install a 4BT in my 82 toyota. I was curious
if you are finished with your install of the motor. I also was curious if you had add any HP parts to the motor and how do you plan on using your truck.
On my 82 toy I have installed a 7inch lift and I`m running 37inch IRoCK tires. I
also plan on using the chevy adapter from a fritolay truck. I`m also using a 465 tranny and an adapter on the back of the tranny so I can keep my stock tansfercase.
I`m also installing chrome - 4340 axles and custom driveshafts. To sum it up, I plan on using my rig to 4wheel on 5+ trails and as a daily driver.I would like any feed back on how I can hop up my 4BT without
hurting the motor . The whole reason I wanted this motor is for the fuel savings, the reliability, the HP, and torque.

i have been thinking about doing this for a long time. the problem i have had is the noise of the motor for a hardcore rock crawling rig. you can't here a spotter at all with a 4bt idling away. but i have a 83 toy pick up that is for my son that i would love to put a diesel in, but that looks like it will be hurting for clearance on the axle with the 4bt. i have thought about mercedes for the swap. and by all means post some more pics i live for this stuff.

I have a 2nd gen SASed 4Runner setup exactly how I want it except no diesel and all of the Toyota diesels I have thought about were high dollar and too wimpy to be on a truck with Dana 60s and 36in tires.
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
Yes by all means videos and pics all of them you can bring yourself to post and when you feel like selling a clone of your motor and tranny mounts put me in line because I want'em!

im pretty jelouse, that would be a great trail rig for towing other rigs out, lol. I love those early toyota's, i've been searching for one, and was gonna throw a 350 in, because u really can't find 4bt's for cheap.
I'd love to see some vids of that thing running around.
