I apoligize, I wasn't putting anyone down for trailering in , makes sense to me after seeing him run. I completely agree "run what you brung" , My beef was with the tech guys letting alot of stuff go overlooked with the fords and picking my basiclly stock truck apart. I hope by the end of the summer my truck is half the truck he's got . that is one nasty bad---- truck

 

Run what you brung is fine with me too, they just need to say so. Every other class has a strict set of rules to follow so why not the diesels? If it is an unlimited class then let them go with no tech inspection period. I think they will be cutting some people out of pulling though, who would want to try it with a stock truck when your going to be running against someone with 500hp? That's why they should run a stock trype class and a "run what you brung" class.
I also think they should set some safety rules for the "unlimited" class, if they are going to let you show up with anything under the sun then they might be asking for trouble. Stacks, crossbolts, driveshaft loops, bellhousing blankets, things like that, just to make it safe for everyone involved even the fans. They also should allow hanging weights, that would eliminate needing to check inside cabs for weights just sitting on the floor. Definately a safety issue there.

nos is legal but lp is not, the 6.0 is a stock internal motor truck and trany with stacked chips and a 100 shot of nos,it wouldnt make much over 500 if that on a dyno....

 

Jess do you have a copy of their rules? We are building a street pulling truck now and plan on using the gray area of the rules till they change them for everyone. Multiple turbos allowed? multiple n2o stages? Everytime I try to find a set of rules it seems they are like generec or word of mouth. Cant have no ford winning in my back yard. Tim

You probably already have plenty of horsepower for the pull but you do need to get your driveline straightened out if you want to win.

 

Justin I am not going to pull my 06, probably the 00, I have ladder bars, safty loops and I am working on a Dana 80 right now. I would prefer the AAM 11.5 but gearing is proving to be tougher to come up with. I have helped several guys there last year and they did real well but we will see. I will get up with you when it gets ready. Tim

 

Tim, here is a link to the rules: http://www.mcttp.com/rules.html . I dont see anything about diesels though, even on their results page they classify diesels and pure stocks differently, so it is hard to say. BUT, I did shoot them an email, and if they get back with me, I'll post it up.

If I were you Tim, I would just build it however I liked it. The rules there are kinda wierd, dont really seem to exist, so if they are not written down....who's to say you cant do it.... I want to see what y'all come up with, post up if you ever go, or are planning to, and I might just have to take off work.

I emailed Kevin Sawyer over there, and he got back with me tonight about the rules of the diesels. Here are his emails:

Chad,

Thanks for your interest in our truck pull, we hope to see you next time. The rules for the diesels are 8000 lb max weight, no nitrous or propane is to be used during a pull, max hitch height is 26". If you weigh more than 8000 lbs you can still pull but you will be out of competition meaning you can't win a trophy but you would still have bragging rights. Any weight added to the truck in the event that it weighs less than 8000 lbs must be in the bed. That's really about it. There aren't as many rules as the other classes. I am amazed at his promptness to reply to my email, the old owner never did reply to one I sent last year, asking about specifics in the diesel class.

Hopefully, they can get some extra classes going, I sent him an email back encouraging them to do so, that it would help distinguish the men from the boys, and it would probably help crowd turnout.

 

NOS is definately not allowed, they looked all over my truck trying to find NOS or propane and asked me 3 different times where i was hiding it LOL They just dont believe it is all #2 on these dodges.

Oh and i wasnt disputing or putting the ford that won down as i have no proof of his mods etc, i have pulled against him before and it is probably the strongest ford there. Found out what happened to mine in the pull off, the timing slipped back about 12* at some point during the pull. wish that hadnt happened. Oh well should be ready next time.

I am very impressed with the new owner's of the track. Kevin has responded to my emails now every time in a timely manner.

His last email told me they are thinking of doing basically a bigger diesel class. He also told me to tell anybody I knew with a lot of mods to show up, they would let them run, but might be in a different class. This is, basically, what will determine a couple of different classes. Here is his direct words "We'd also like for some of the heavy hitters in the diesel class to come and participate in our local pulls. Those trucks are awesome and the crowd really enjoys them."

He also told me that they were more packed than they expected at the last pull, and they are working on getting more parking.

Sounds like these guys want to expand the truck pulling scene around NE NC more than it ever has been, and that is a good thing, in my mind.


Also, to Chet and others interested, there MIGHT be some pulls put on in Southern Currituck County, I know the land there was just rezoned so they could do some stuff, I know for sure there is going to be some mud bogs and stuff, and I have heard quite a few rumors of truck pulls also. I'll keep everybody updated.

 

where is that Chad? My moms on the county board and I havnt heard anything like that. She's been trying her hardest to get the cnty to put on events like this. The biggest problem is that it has to be policed and maintained well. We have one of the biggest crowd drawing opportunities in the county...Dennis Anderson, that could draw a lot of attention. Look how many people showd up just for Ryans 16th birthday mud bog. Trucks from all over. The problem is Everyone on the board is from the north that came down here to the country life to get away from the city but they want to put on city like events, build houses and take away land . Off subject but I don't get it
