The Texas Truck & Tractor Pullers Association has added a diesel pickup class to our line up on a trial basis. We will be running DHRA Street Diesel rules with the exception of allowing hanging weights. We have three pulls left this season and they are as follows: Boyd, Texas September 22nd; Deleon, Texas September 29th; and Priddy, Texas October 6th. There will be a purse payout at all three pulls for this class. Each participant will be required to join the association and adhere to all class rules as well as the general rules for the association. Regular membership is $75.00 and competing membership (which is good for one event) is $30.00. Only regular members will be allowed to vote at our annual rules meeting. We hope that this will help this class of vehicles grow and allow these pullers more opportunities in the state and surrounding states. We also understand that there may be some changes to the rules for this class or we may need to run a different set of DHRA class rules, but hopefully this give us and the pullers a starting place. We would like to work closely with DHRA as this class develops. Our website, www.tttpa.com should be up by 9/20/07 and rules will be accessible there. If you have any questions, please email me at av8rdat@yahoo.com. We hope to see you at these next events.
Thank you

Sounds Good David... I really do not like all of the DHRA rules.. but I think this is the best option.. to go with a set of rules that has been running... and has been through the growing pains...
A few questions...
Exception of allowing weights... Since the Street Diesel class allows weights.. I'm guessing this means NO HANGING weights...
Any chance of adding the Super Street class?? I know there are at least 3 trucks, that are running twin turbos, that do not fit the 2.8in single turbo limit for the Street Diesel class.. I think they will need very minor changes to fit rules for this class including the saftey requirements..
Thanks

The rules just say 8,000# no hanging weights... That's all I really want to go into on that.... We did add, if a participant has a permanent weight rack this could be approved by the TTTPA officials. Basically that is saying that we don't want someone to have a front weight rack built of railroad iron or something like that.
As far as the SS class goes... That is definitely something I want our association to pursue. I know that water-injection is essential for alot of pullers building alot of power. We are really looking for those that are very serious about pulling and performance, as well as safety. Safety is one of our biggest concerns. That is one reason why we will stay away from nitro and propane.
We want to grow this class in the direction that the pullers that follow our association want to go.
Thanks

Its good to finally get a assiciation that wants to do as much for trucks as there tractor classes. With the help of everyone here and the rule set I believe in it. A few of us are going to DHRA in Baytown in october to see whats there and to talk to a few of the guys and get some ideas, and to see if we can get some of the big guys to pull with the TTTPA. I dont know what purse amount they have but thats why we are going!! It is a good show down there and alot can be learned from people, who care to share!

We have been to Houston every year.. and pulled the truck last year... but will not be taking the truck this year, because we have one saftey item that does not meet the rules for the Super Street class... But we'll be there...
I just want the rules posted so everyone can see them before the pull... If we are going to run DHRA rules, that's fine.. they are posted on the web for everyone to see.. if they are going to changed.. post them so we can see the rules..... before we are about to hook...
We do not fit the DHRA street class rules.. and have no problems running in an open class... We just want a place to pull.. if we need to make some modifications, we will make them to pull... (Everyone will have to make some changes to fit some of the classs.. especially for saftey.)

I just noticed that the website is up and the diesel rules are posted. There may be a total of two trucks in the state that fit into those rules.
I think they are going to have to have a super street class for the high hp trucks, but that is just my opinion.
Buck, take a look at rule #17.

Our website is finally up. www.tttpa.com
If you guys that have and are planning to pull with us would like a picture of your truck on the website, email me a picture and I will try to get it on the site. av8rdat@yahoo.com
Super Street or higher is where I'd like to see the class go, but that's just my opinion.
