Traction bars, suspension blocks, pics

I've been fabbing these up & they are almost done. The bars are 2" DOM with .50" wall, threaded 1" heim joints.

Most guys just keep the same angle as the driveshaft or longer. I made my bars 78" + threads of heim joints that you see sticking out.

I need to get on making myself a set. Mr. Previous owner stacked a 2" lift block on the stock 4" and it walks a little too much for my conscious to take.

how does the truck ride with the bars? Any difference? Do you leave them on all the time?

The bars are on at all times. The truck feels planted even on wet roads you can feel them working. I have towed with them & they really improved the swaying trailer at highway speeds. When going around turns, I can feel that the truck doesn't tilt into turns like it did stock. I love my bars! I also sled pulled with them & they made a big difference. Biggest difference was on the scale, I'm now 400lbs heavier.

To J Lent and Big Horn:
Does your suspension feel stiffer or make more noise when you go down the road? Does it chatter at all? Have you tried to spin the wheels in dirt or sand? All wheel hop is gone? It looks like there is no bushings in the heim joints, correct?
The reason I ask is that I installed a set and they made more noise than you could imagine and stiffened the rear to the point it would chatter on the road. Totally undriveable. I changed the heim joints and mounts and ran into other problems. I need to start over and I want to do it right this time. Thanks.

I don't have any chatter at all. I built my mounts so that the heim fits between the plates snug, after tightening the bolts, there is no play for them to make noise. If you are starting over, get some "Johnny Joints". I never heard of them until I already had mine built or I would have bought them.

Here is my last pull. It was the first time with the bars, they made the truck feel more planted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPwOiZ0ssB4

Did you do the axle side plate that way versus welding directly to the Ubolt plate for a reason? Or for ease of removal?
